The Giro d'Italia—the first of three annual Grand Tours in road cycling—will kick off in Nessebar, Bulgaria, on May 8, with 184 riders from 23 teams expected to compete for the coveted Maglia Rosa (Pink Jersey). The peloton, which refers to the full field of riders, will face a challenging 3,459.2 km (2,149.4 miles) course over 21 stages, culminating in the traditional finish in Rome on May 31.
All participating teams will introduce their top riders in a vibrant parade, with cycling stars from around the world engaging with cheering crowds. This exciting event will take place at the Open Air Theatre of Burgas, starting at 6:00 PM. It presents a unique opportunity for fans to get a close-up view of the contenders who will be competing for glory along the challenging roads of the Corsa Rosa. The Grande Arrivo will serve as the closing celebration of the Giro d'Italia. During this event, all riders who have stood on the podium during the three weeks of competition will be celebrated. The winner will be crowned in a spectacular awards ceremony, receiving the Trofeo Senza Fine in front of an enthusiastic crowd and amid the flashing of cameras. This grand celebration is an unmissable occasion and will be held in Rome this year.
Danish cycling star Jonas Vingegaard (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) enters the Corsa Rosa as the pre-race favorite but will face significant competition from Italian youngster Giulio Pellizzari (Red Bull - Bora - hansgrohe). Each team will field eight riders, each assuming different roles in the race. Some teams will aim for individual stage victories, others will focus on dominating the sprints, while a select few will chase overall general classification glory.
