Gucci's new burgundy cherry shade" Gucci Red - now even as Lipstick!

It is just one word - 'Ancora' - but above all, a color that distinguishes Sabato De Sarno's work at Gucci at the moment: Ancora Red. It's the new burgundy-cherry shade chosen for the double G logo seen in the latest fashion shows. This color also serves as the emblem of the communication campaign and has become a cult lip shade. The recent Gucci Cruise 2025 fashion show at the Tate Gallery in London showcased the new lip shade called 509 Still Red. Drawing inspiration from Gucci's heritage, this intense shade of red references the walls of one of the elevators at The Savoy Hotel in London. Guccio Gucci, the founder, worked as a porter in London at the end of the 19th century.

It was there at the Savoy Hotel in London that 'the spark' was lit, leading him to create his famous brand of suitcases and leather goods. A color that pays homage to the founder of the brand, Guccio Gucci, is a modern red. In 1897, Gucci worked as a lift boy at the exclusive Savoy Hotel, where there was a modern red lift. It was during his time there, helping refined guests transport their luggage to the suites, that he got the idea to create his own line of luxury leather goods. The lift, also known as the "ascending room" at the time, had a striking color and was a remarkable technical innovation. It took seven minutes to go from one floor to the next, and it was quite an experience for those brave enough to try it. Gucci later used this color as their signature shade, now known as Gucci red.

At the brand's recent Cruise 2025 fashion show, amidst the dream looks and VIP guests, there was a surprise beauty reveal. The "Gucci Rouge à Lèvres Mat in Rosso Ancora" (this is the full name of the lipstick) features a creamy and matte texture that provides a velvety, long-lasting finish. The formula is enriched with rich pigments and hydrating oils, offering intense colors and a lightweight feel. This deep shade, between cherry and burgundy, adds elegance to clothing and accessories and is now also available as a rouge à lèvres.
