Confindustria: the value of Italian fashion in the economy and in culture

Italian fashion is considered one of the most important in the world. Fashion has always been an important part of Italy's cultural life and society, and Italians are well known for their focus on dressing well; "la bella figura", or making a good impression, remains key. Italian fashion is also linked to concept of "Made in Italy", a brand of merchandise that vouches for excellence in creativity and craftsmanship. Italian luxury goods are renowned for the quality of their fabrics and for the elegance and sophistication of their design. The Industry Body Confindustria moda presented the new study carried out by Censis to document the current situation of the Made in Italy Textile, Fashion and Accessory industry, outlining its future challenges. The event took place at Cattaneo Zanetto, in Rome and was an opportunity to present the photographic book created by Heinz Schattner "Reflex - Images of a journey through Italian fashion", photos that celebrates and makes Italy's "know-how" recognizable, through a journey through all the sectors that refer to Confindustria Moda. Confindustria Moda brings together around 60,000 companies, for a total of around 600,000 workers. In 2021 the total turnover of the companies represented was 91.7 billion euros and, thanks to the excellent export performance recorded over the years, the sector is the main contributor to the Italian trade balance and the second largest industry in the country.
